We were asked to design a home for a family of 4 and their regularly visiting grandparents. Originally a 1970’s 3 story house set in Dover heights, the house initially had little significant architectural merit, and was inadequate at capturing the spectacular harbour views. However after consideration of all options, it was most viable to maintain the structure of this existing house, as this allowed the current height and width of the home to be retained. The needs of the client were met with a 5 bedroom home, including a self-contained apartment. In order to capitalise on the extensive city views, a roof terrace was incorporated in the design. The finishes are contemporary yet personal, resulting in a sophisticated homely atmosphere. The clients were vibrant and vivacious, with a passion for entertaining, and we wanted to capture and reflect their personality throughout the house. The children’s areas were designed to be engaging and stimulating through the use of colour and finishes. Lifestyle was also an important consideration throughout this home, this is reflected through the generous rooms including a palatial master bedroom and the extensive entertaining areas.
